Inside the Pillow Lab: Hélène Simoneau Danse

During her October residency, Hélène Simoneau Danse developed a new work titled "Late Bloomer," examining themes of power in the context of belonging. The work explored the desire to be included, the consequences of exclusion, survival, and the effects of being ostracized. Simoneau is a French-Canadian choreographer whose work has been commissioned by organizations such as Oregon Ballet Theatre, The Juilliard School, and Charlotte Ballet. A 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient, she has been a resident artist at Baryshnikov Arts Center and The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU, among others. Originally from Luceville, Québec, she now divides her time between Montréal and NYC.
