Longtime Pillow audience favorite Jawole Willa Jo Zollar has expanded the possibilities for how stories can be told through dance, theater, and music by centering experiences of women and the African diaspora. She is the founder of Urban Bush Women, who presented their dance-driven musical SCAT!... The Complex Lives of Al & Dot, Dot & Al Zollar at the Pillow. In this talk with Pillow Scholar and dramaturg Talvin Wilks, Zollar will reflect on her catalytic creative contributions to dance and her most recent work.
