PillowTalk: Shamel Pitts

In conversation with Melanie George, 2026 Jacob’s Pillow Men Dancers Award recipient and choreographer Shamel Pitts shares his inspirations informing "Touch of RED," which ran in the Doris Duke Theatre during the first week of Festival 2026, and his expansive vision for his company TRIBE. Unlike traditional single choreographer companies, TRIBE is a collective of international and national artists working across mediums such as movement, video mapping projection, spoken word, and more, drawing inspiration from the Afrofuturism movement.
