Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Trailblazing comic ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (the “Trocks”) celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2024. Founded in the wake of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City as a gender-skewering company of professional male dancers, the Trocks perform a full range of ballet and modern dance repertoire, offering humorous yet faithful renditions that are both “delightful” and “rebellious” (“The New Republic”). After fifty years of globe-spanning performances, the company now plays to a world that is, as they put it, “catching up with their once highly-subversive viewpoint, allowing their style of ballet to be viewed simply as sheer entertainment.” Program: “Le Lac des Cygnes” (“Swan Lake,” Act II); choreography: Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov; music: Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. “Go for Barocco;” choreographer: Peter Anastos; music: Johann Sebastian Bach. “The Dying Swan;” choreography: The Trockadero; music: Camille Saint-Saens. “Paquita;” choreography: after Marius Petipa; music: Ludwig Minkus. Includes introduction by Pamela Tatge and Post-Show Talk with Tory Dobrin and Raffaele Morra moderated by Maura Keefe. This performance was filmed live on June 28, 2024 in the Ted Shawn Theatre at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Video by Nel Shelby Productions.
