Gibney Company

The creators of “sharp and satisfying” contemporary dance (“The New York Times”), Gibney Company lives at “the intersection of art and social action.” While Gina Gibney Dance performed three times at the Pillow from 1999 to 2001, Gibney completely rebuilt her company in 2020. This was the reimagined group’s Pillow debut. Founded in New York City since 1991 as a dance and social justice organization, Gibney has transformed dramatically over the past decade, and now tours with an “engaging” (“Boston Globe”) performance company that recently doubled in size, performing works by some of New York’s and the world’s most renowned choreographers. Program: “Bach Duet;” choreography: Twyla Tharp; music: J. S. Bach. “The Fugue;” choreography: Twyla Tharp. Bliss; choreography: Johan Inger; music: Keith Jarrett. Includes introduction by Pamela Tatge and Post-Show talk with Gina Gibney and Gilbert T Small II moderated by Janine Parker. This performance was filmed live on August 8 & 10, 2024 on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Video by Nel Shelby Productions. Full-length performance films are copyright of Jacob’s Pillow. No part of this video, in whole or in part, may be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, displayed, adapted, or otherwise used without prior written authorization from Jacob’s Pillow.
