Post-Show Talk: Hip Hop Across the Pillow

This Post-Show Talk features Rokafella (Artistic Director of Full Circle Souljahs), Kwikstep (Executive Director of Full Circle Souljahs), Rodney Hill (Executive) Director of Rennie Harris Puremovement American Street Dance Theater), Reyna Núñez (a dancer with Ladies of Hip-Hop), and d. Sabela grimes (a Joan B. Hunter Choreography Fellow), moderated by Scholar-in-Residence Imani Kai Johnson. The talk took place on August 4, 2023 following a performance of “Hip Hop Across the Pillow” at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA. 2023 Post-Show Talks were held at Jacob's Pillow after each Friday performance in the Ted Shawn Theatre, offering an opportunity for audiences to gain more insight directly from the artists themselves. The preceding performance featured the works “Thief of Hearts,” choreographed and performed by Kwikstep and Rokafella, “Parable of PassAge,” performed by the Ladies of Hip-Hop and choreographed by d. Sabela grimes in collaboration with the Ladies of Hip-Hop, and “Nuttin’ but a Word,” performed by Rennie Harris Puremovement American Street Dance Theater and choreographed by Rennie Harris.
